The winter solstice is on December 21st and is the longest night of the year. Yule is one of the oldest winter solstice festivals, with origins among the ancient Norse thousands of years ago. The winter solstice is a chance for introspection and renewal. It invites us to pause, reflect, and set meaningful intentions for what lies ahead. Embracing the stillness of the season can bring valuable insights and help clarify our vision for the upcoming year.
Creating a Vision Board
One effective way to harness the energy of the winter solstice is by creating a vision board. We do this as part of our winter solstice retreat day. This creative exercise lets you outline your intentions and dreams for the year. You will need materials such as magazines, scissors, glue, and a large piece of poster board. For instance, if your goal is to travel more, find images of destinations that excite you. As you cut out pictures and words that resonate with your goals, remember that you are not just crafting a visual aid; you are actively engaging with your desires.

Setting Intentions with Clarity
As you create your vision board, take a moment to think about what you want to manifest over the next year. Focus on different areas, like career, relationships, health, and personal growth. For example, if improved health is your goal, you might write down "exercise three times a week" or "cook at least one healthy meal per week." Specific intentions will guide you and keep you focused as the year progresses.
Once your vision board is finished, place it in a spot where you will see it daily. This ongoing reminder will help keep you aligned with your intentions.
Embracing the Season's Energy
The winter solstice is a time of reflection, intention-setting, and creativity. By creating a vision board, you can clarify and visualize your dreams for the year ahead. Use the introspection encouraged by the season to guide you toward a brighter future. May your winter solstice be filled with warmth, inspiration, and the courage to chase your dreams. Wishing you all a peaceful Yule.
